Professor Paul Sutton (left), class of 1958, and Harvey G. Melhouse, class of 1928, demonstrate electronics equipment given to the College by Western Electric in 1971. Melhouse was president of Western Electric (the parent company of Bell Laboratories) and a College trustee. He also served as the first chairman of the Naperville City Planning Commission.

In 1976, Al Benedetti (class of 1948), Larry Gregory (class of 1951), Dick Wehrli (class of 1956) and Don Deetjen (class of 1966), joined forces for the “$18,000 miracle in Naperville.” The foursome led the team that disassembled, transported, repaired, cleaned, painted and installed bleachers from Old Sportsman’s Park, the former home of the St. Louis Cardinals, to provide the College with its first true football stadium.

Terry Marsh (center), professor of biology and Harold and Eva White Distinguished Professor in the Liberal Arts emeritus, was an ardent supporter of student research and environmentalism from his arrival on campus in 1969. Over the course of his career at North Central, Marsh logged more than 175,000 miles on study trips with students while continuing his own research on fresh water bryozoan. With Tom Love, professor of economics emeritus, Marsh helped students organize NCC Green.
