Eggert Giere, class of 1948, was a World War II veteran whose college career was interrupted by the war. After graduating from the College, he studied political science at Northwestern University before returning to his alma mater. A popular teacher and swim coach, he also served as dean of students. Pictured behind him are surplus army barracks brought to campus after World War II to house returning veterans.
Irvin Koten ’29, professor of chemistry 1939-1961. Koten established a tumor research laboratory at North Central in 1954 and mentored scientists such as Mildred Rebstock ’42 and Gladys Feldott Maley ’48.
