Eggert Giere, class of 1948, was a World War II veteran whose college career was interrupted by the war. After graduating from the College, he studied political science at Northwestern University before returning to his alma mater. A popular teacher and swim coach, he also served as dean of students. Pictured behind him are surplus army barracks brought to campus after World War II to house returning veterans.
