Before the College acquired the Fort Hill Campus in 1923, the area was the Heatherton Estate owned by North-Western supporter Judge John S. Goodwin. Seen here is a bucolic scene of the pond and barns before the College constructed athletic fields (and, later, Merner Field House) on the site.
