On March 18, 1965, longtime civil rights activist James Farmer came to North Central on the invitation of College Chaplain George St. Angelo ’43 to speak about the civil rights revolution. He argued for the importance of taking part in the civil rights movement in America, no matter how far from the issue students felt. The message was extremely powerful for those students and had such an impact on them that they organized a bus trip to Selma, Alabama to join the fight for voter rights.
